Quality of Life Programming

Quality of Life Programs are designed to help alleviate the isolation many families feel, we provide family-focused opportunities for parents, the diagnosed child, and siblings to connect with other families who understand their journey. These programs are offered in a fun community setting, giving the families a sense of normalcy during and after treatment while creating meaningful and lasting memories.

Halloween Bash

This fun-filled event, hosted by our friends The Ellis Family and the Ellis Island team, was held in the parking lot Allegiant Stadium for our 25th Anniversary on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Their entire Ellis family and Ellis Island Hotel Casino team, along with Candlelighters staff, countless volunteers and numerous donors, came together once again to provide an unforgettable experience for 582 Candlelighters children and family members. This spooktacular event provided families with 60 trunk & treating stations, carnival games, rides, photo opportunities, music and food.

Thanksgiving Meals

To help offset the cost of this tradition, families whose diagnosed child is undergoing treatment are invited to participate in the Thanksgiving meal program. We will be inviting qualified families in the first part of November.

This program is generously supported by our friends from The Revolution FMO and Small Business Group Alliance (SBGA).

Holiday Adopt-a-Family

Every year Candlelighters matches families with generous “adopters” in the community to help provide the families with some holiday cheer. Understanding the increased financial stress, busy schedules, and the overall additional strain that many of our families may feel during the holiday season we hope to alleviate some of these stresses.

Birthday Club

This newly launched program in 2020 has already become a favorite among Candlelighters kids. This program serves about 40 - 50 local children facing cancer each month. Children receive a birthday card with well wishes and a certificate to pick out a toy or gift card from our Birthday Corner.

No More Chemo Parties

Celebrations with the childhood cancer survivor, their families and Cure 4 the Kids, to honor the children who have completed treatment.

Movie Night

Families whose diagnosed child or bereaved siblings aged 12 or under, are invited to enjoy refreshments and a private viewing of a new release with other Candlelighters families.

*In consideration of compromised immune systems, volunteers will be sanitizing the theater.
